Better think again!!!

Did you know that skyauction.com charges $15 for 'Shipping' even when the only thing you receive is email confirmation?               

You read it right - skyauction.com charges you $15 for sending you an email!!!

My story is simple: Naturally, since I bid on a Rhode-Island vacation. Since I was the only bidder, I won the vacation.
My bid was $1. There's an additional $195 standard charge, and $15 for shipping material to the customer. I was very surprise to learn that the only thing I got was an email message with two attachments...

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) received 47 complaints about Skyauction.com in the past 36 months! 23 of those complaints were received in the last 12 months.

Complaints to the Bureau have alleged:

failure to provide service!!!

Here's my correspondence with Skyauction.com representatives. They're very polite but insist on not refunding me for the $15 email. Is this the kind of service you would like to receive???

 

The $211 included a $15 charge for shipment of document to my house. Since the documents were emailed to me I would appreciate if you can deduct that amount from the charge.

This is a standard fee charged for every auction for shipping and handling of the auction. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I still insist that this is not a fair practice. This is the second time that I'm purchasing from skyauction.com and I definitely plan to use it again.

If you value my business (which I hope you do) I urge you to do the right thing and refund me for expanses that I feel are not justified. $15 are not a large amount and it would make me feel a whole lot better about your company and the fairness of the process.

Please be advised, the $15.00 Shipping/Handling fee is not limited to mailing charge. Fulfilling an auction requires it to move through a system of departments and our suppliers. Once finalized, it is sent to you in the most convenient manner, US Postal for P.O.Box addresses, Federal Express and/or by Facsimile to you or the resort, or by e-mail attachment.

Unfortunately, we are unable to adjust the shipping/handling charges. I do hope you had an enjoyable trip. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I thank you for your response. Still, in my view, charging me $15 is a dishonest practice which leaves a bad taste. Rest assure that this was the LAST TIME I USE YOUR SITE. I will also strongly recommend other people AGAINST using skyauction.com Since you leave me with no choice, and since the matter is of principle for me, I will file a complaint with the 'Better Business Bureau'. An email confirmation shouldn't cost no one $15.

Thank you for using Skyauction.com. We really try to please our members, but, sometimes we just can't. There are very few occasions when we receive inquires regarding the shipping/handling cost. These are normal business charges, not oftenitemize in one's bill invoice, but, they are there. It is not an unreasonable charge. If we received a BBB inquiry, we will respond.

I filed a complaint (Complaint #: 477086) with the BBB. I will forward you a link to a page I will create describing our dispute. With the correct indexing many people will find the page (which will include a link to the BBB page on skyauction.com detailing 47 complaints that were already filed).

Once again I fail to understand your business philosophy. Just the time we had spent emailing back and forth is probably worth more than $15 to skyauction. Not to mention the potential for lost business (if only one person that I would talk to won't use your site, you already lost more).
